The members of Iglesia Santa Maria Peregrina, the pastor who was removed from the roster, and many leaders among BIPOC Lutherans considered Bishop Eaton response to the Rohrer scandal to be evidence of racism and white supremacy, as you know. I was Bishop Eatons failure to act promptly that opened up the whole ELCA to charges of systemic racism.   Bishop Eaton was willing to indict you and me and the whole ELCA as racist, did not take personal responsibility for any of her own actions or lack thereof.  Whatever happened to "my fault, my own fault, my own grievous fault"?

The whole ELCA will be brow beaten for years for how "we" failed Iglesia Santa Maria Peregrina, but Bishop Eaton can now consider herself off the hook.

Again, what specific actions are they talking about? And, does the presiding bishop have the authority to take such actions? As I noted above, the presiding bishop has no authority over congregations or pastors within a synod. Certainly folks can blame her; and they will blame President Biden for rising gas prices, even though he has no control over those prices; or over the search at Donald Trump's residence, even though he knew nothing about it.

Do you also realize that a Vice-President of the ELCA, and the present interim VP, the highest office for a lay person in our church, is Carlos Peña.

The complaints against Roher AND Eaton are well documented here:  https://whathappenedinthesps.weebly.com/

Among the complaints:

  • Bishop Eaton advised Bishop Rohrer to take the actions on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe
  • Bishop Eaton failed to act promptly to the charges against Bishop Roher
  • Bishop Eaton delayed in establishing a listening panel
  • Bishop Eaton did not follow the recommendation of the listening panel
  • Bishop Eaton did not bring charges against Bishop Rohrer in a timely manner
  • Bishop Eaton was aware of Bishop Rohrer's racist actions early on
  • That Bishop Eaton's actions constituted a "whiteness protection program"

A complaint doesn't make it true. A complainer often doesn't have all the correct information.

Wow.  We just assume that the 3 million members of the ELCA are guilty, but we withhold judgment on Bishop Eaton.  That's an odd standard of justice.  She confesses our sins, yours and mine, but not her own.  She deserves the benefit of the doubt, but we don't.

You've assumed she has personally sinned in her handling of this matter. So far, I have seen no evidence of that - including reading many of the documents on the link you posted - most of which had nothing to do with the situation.

I take, then, that you agree that by only confessing the sin of the ELCA, PB Eaton denied any personal sin in regard to the SPS fiasco.
