Thank you, ALPB, for finally getting to the bottom of the LRB mystery!  Though I am not an LRB devote (I use one of those PDA's with the RCL feed from elca.org) I wonder if a supply solution isn't right under our noses in the February 2007 Forum Letter.

In Omnium Gatherum it is noted that CPH is re-issuing "The Conservative Reformation and Its Theology," by Charles Porterfield Krauth.  I wonder if CPH would consider providing a mooch like the LRB for Lutheran pastors of every stripe?  CPH has been consistently profitable, and they seem to be publishing a string of higher quality church resources.

Oh, and they also sent me (and perhaps to other non-LCMS Lutheran pastors) my own copy of the Lutheran Hymnal free of charge about two months before ELW hit the shelves.  I was not especially moved by the liturgical & teaching content, but my organist has been taking a look at the hymns in it.

Thanks for the kind words! The problem with CPH doing it, of course, would be (a) they couldn't really list all the churchwide offices of multiple Lutheran church bodies; and (b) ELCA and LCMS aren't entirely on the same page in terms of calendars and lectionaries.

As for the free LSB, you got that no doubt because of your membership in the Society of the Holy Trinity. Concordia kindly sent a copy gratis to all members for their inspection and information.

Must be why I didn't get a free copy. :(

There have to be SOME perks for being paleo-orthodox!

Harumph.  I even asked CPH bigwigs directly and didn't get one.  Maybe if I left the LCMS, joined your group, and then re-entered the LCMS I would have saved my hard-earned bucks.

Alright.  I'll quit grousing now and go back to Trinitarian grammars of thought...

No need to leave the LCMS, brother Scott....I am a member of the STS and got my free copy as member of same.  So that's where that extra copy of LSB on my desk came from.  As the old American Express (or some such company) commercial said "membership has its privileges"
